Stansbury’s market is a seasonal foreshore event rather than a permanent or weekly shopping area. More than 70 stallholders take part across the season, and market-day stalls are spread across three foreshore lawn areas beside Oyster Bay. Food, local produce, handmade goods and community groups share the same compact waterfront precinct as the jetty, beach, playground and picnic lawns.
The 2026–2027 calendar starts on Saturday 3 October 2026 and finishes with the Easter market on Saturday 27 March 2027. The normal hours are 9am–1pm. The exception is Thursday 31 December 2026, when the market runs 3pm–8pm before fireworks at 9:30pm.
This is an outdoor volunteer-run event, so dates can change and severe weather can cause a cancellation. Check the day’s status before a long drive.

What is at the market?
Local food, produce, craft and community stalls beside Oyster Bay
More than 70 stallholders take part across the season, with market-day stalls using three areas of the foreshore lawns. Individual market days vary, but the regular mix includes Oyster Bay oysters and other local produce, preserves, bread, pastries and sweets, jewellery, artwork, candles, clothing, fishing gear, plants, garden pieces, woodwork, metalwork and gifts.
Market-day food commonly includes bacon-and-egg sandwiches, hot doughnuts, coffee and other quick meals. Community groups such as the Lions Club, Stansbury Museum and the Visitor Information team also run stalls.
The stalls are outdoors across the foreshore lawns. The beach, picnic area and jetty are close enough to add a short walk or waterfront stop before or after shopping.

The foreshore toilets are beside the playground, close to the market area. The lawns run down toward the water, with shaded picnic tables beneath mature fig trees and Norfolk pines. The jetty, beach and central town area are all within the same compact waterfront precinct, so most visitors can combine them without repeatedly moving the car.
The market caters for wheelchair users and visitors using mobility aids. The event is outdoors, so some lawn and foreshore surfaces may take longer to cross when it is busy.
Pets: dogs and other pets should be left at home because of the crowds, food stalls and busy walkways.
Weather: if conditions are severe, check for a same-day cancellation before leaving.

New Year’s Eve: Twilight Market, live music and fireworks
Thursday 31 December 2026 is the season’s special evening event. Countdown by the Coast runs as a Twilight Market from 3pm to 8pm, with live music and fireworks scheduled for 9:30pm. The fireworks are launched from the Stansbury Boat Ramp and can be viewed from several positions along the foreshore and nearby cliffs.
The Twilight Market does not open until 3pm, so the beach, jetty, museum or lunch can fill the earlier part of the day.
New Year’s Eve is busier than a normal market day. If you are staying for the fireworks, sort out parking, food and the walk back to your accommodation before the evening crowd builds.
The market closes at 8pm. The 90-minute gap before the 9:30pm fireworks leaves time to eat and choose a viewing spot.

How long to allow and what to do nearby
Allow about two to three hours if the market is your main stop. Half a day is enough to add the jetty, foreshore and a meal because the central waterfront is compact.
Buy refrigerated seafood and other chilled food near the end of the visit, especially if you are continuing around Yorke Peninsula afterward.
A simple route is market → foreshore → jetty → lunch or coffee. The playground and picnic area are useful for families, and the waterfront is easy to continue on foot.

A local tradition
From a small 2003 market to a major Stansbury event
The first Stansbury Seaside Market was held in January 2003 after a Visitor Centre volunteer saw similar markets working well elsewhere. It began with a small group of local stallholders and developed into a regular seasonal event.
By January 2024 the markets had reached their 21st anniversary, with more than 60 stallholders reported at that time. The event has continued to grow since then.
The Stansbury Progress Association organises the markets with volunteer support. Local clubs and community groups run food stalls, help with set-up and use the event for fundraising.
The schedule uses selected holiday and seasonal dates instead of a weekly or monthly pattern.
