Who we are
The Stansbury Museum preserves the stories of our town and Yorke Peninsula, housed in the former school and headmaster’s residence (built 1878). We opened as a Museum/Art Gallery in January 1976 following a successful Centenary display in 1973. Exhibits span local industries and everyday life — oyster dredging, farm tools and implements, a reconstructed schoolroom, domestic rooms c.1910, costume and textiles, gemstones and shells, and more.
Visit us
Our volunteer-run museum welcomes visitors to explore Stansbury’s story in the former 1878 school and headmaster’s residence. Open afternoons bring a relaxed chance to wander at your own pace — and many guests remark it’s “much bigger than it looks from the outside”.
Tours for groups can be arranged with notice, and disabled access is available. We’re part of Yorke Peninsula’s network of community museums that keep the region’s maritime and farming past alive.
